SPEAKING ACTIVITIES IMPLEMENTED IN AN ENGLISH CLUB: STUDENTS’ VOICES

AnEnglish club has many important goals to support the fluency of students in mastering English skills, especially speaking skills. Sometimes, it brings positive and negative drawbacks with some activities provided. The study aimed find out how felt about different types that were hosted by club. Qualitative research approaches utilized this case approach research. participants three who members at one senior high schools Palembang. information was acquired conducting an interview semi-structured using open-ended questions. data evaluated employing a methodology known as theme analysis. outcomes revealed (a) debate activity did not improve speakers' pronunciation, comprehension, or grammar, (b) speech assisted students' components, which included vocabulary, fluency, grammar process speaking, (c) able practice skills such through story-based activities, (d) related newscasting aid student instructing learning vocabulary.
